Launching from the glass on the nose, this is ripe with scents of cocoa, fresh vanilla, candied almonds and citrus zest. As it opens it reveals cherries, chocolate cake, hints of oak, honey and rich malt. The palate is velvety and awash with cocoa, sweet orange, hazelnut, and dried stone fruit all with a malty undercurrent. Beyond this is the familiar brandy profile along with peach cobbler, cherry pie, vanilla and a pleasant bitterness from the beer. The finish is medium in length and dry as opposed to most other sweet brandies. It lingers with notes of cherry, oak, vanilla, cocoa and almond. It is perfect as an after-dinner drink on its own but knocks it out of the park in a traditional old-fashioned.
